Kara,
I went to town to run some errands and to pick up some breakfast from the diner. Which means you’ve got about two hours to get ready.
I know you thought we had plans to go to dinner and the movies tonight, but that was just to keep you from suspecting what I was really up to.
We’re going on a trip, and it’s a surprise so don’t even ask.
Asking Lenore won’t do you any good either. She’s turned off her phone til we’re safely out of town. She lives six hours away and it’s still the only way she could be trusted to not give anything away.
All you need to know is that you need to pack a bag with enough stuff for three days. It’s going to be a lot colder where we’re going, so probably some sweaters and those wool socks you like so much.
And also, the new black dress that I hung in your closet.
Don’t worry about anything. It’s all taken care of. I just wanted our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple to be special.
So, get packing. There’s fresh coffee in the kitchen.
