Cassie,
I’ve only got fifteen minutes before the bell rings to say everything I want to say and get this letter to you before you leave; so here goes.
I think I’m in love with you.
There. I said it.
I’m in love with you, and I don’t know if you feel the same way about me, (and it’s okay if you don’t) but I had to tell you.
We’re only sixteen and we’ve only been dating a few months, so maybe that’s too soon, and maybe it’s because it’s Valentine’s Day and all these sappy people are getting to me. I don’t know.
Whatever the reason, it doesn’t change the fact that I’m in love with you.
If I’m being honest, I think I’ve loved you for a long time now.
And I don’t mean love like, ‘I’ve known her my whole life, of course I love her.’
I mean, ‘She’s all I think about and I can’t focus on anything else when she’s around, but when she’s not around, I feel like I can’t breathe right.’
That’s crazy, right?
I mean, we’re kids. And everyone says we’re too young to know what love is, but I feel like that’s wrong. I think if you’ve been around enough people who are really in love, you start to pick up on it earlier. You notice it faster.
And I’ve been around a lot of people who are really in love.
So, yeah, I’m in love with you. And I’m pretty sure I’m gonna spend the rest of my life in love with you.
Hope you don’t mind.
Okay, so I gotta wrap this up.
Call me later. Or don’t. You’ll probably run for the hills after reading this, but I just had to get it off my chest.
Anyway, I love you.
T.J.
